Ginger is a highly prized ingredient, most commonly used during the winter months, probably because it warms you up quickly. In small quantities, it has a pleasantly pungent flavour; however, in higher concentrations, it gives dishes and drinks a very sharp taste.
It is excellent in sauces, roasted meats and, above all, as a flavouring in Asian cuisine. Grated or sliced, it can be used to make hot drinks and lemonades. It can also be used to make homemade syrup or juice.
